Kia is gearing up for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with a range of exciting announcements. It plans to showcase its latest purpose-built electric vehicles and share its vision for the future. As the biggest tech event of the year, CES offers a prime opportunity to witness remarkable advancements in the automotive industry, and Kia is leading the way. The event starts on January 9th (2024), and people are eagerly anticipating what Kia has in store.

Kia at CES

Kia, a multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in South Korea, is set to make a comeback to the CES event after a five-year hiatus, with a fascinating agenda that highlights the company’s latest lineup of purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) and business strategy that emphasizes its commitment to providing sustainable mobility solutions to the world.

At the CES event, Kia will unveil five purpose-built electric vehicles (EVs), including a debut model that is scheduled to be mass-produced in 2025. The PBV lineup is quite diverse, consisting of one small-sized, three medium-sized, and one large-sized PBV. The small-sized vehicle is set to be the first one to be unveiled at the event, commencing on January 9th (2024).

Kia is dedicated to making purpose-built EVs an integral part of its core business, positioning itself as one of the leading providers of sustainable mobility solutions. The company intends to extend its business into e-commerce, logistics, shuttle, and robot delivery using purpose-built EVs.

The ever-increasing demand for eco-friendly solutions, driven by the growth in car-sharing and delivery, has compelled Kia to contribute to the transition, especially as most developed countries move towards stricter environmental regulations. To further this vision, the automaker began construction of its first PBV factory and its first dedicated EV plant in South Korea in April with an investment of roughly $758 million or 1 trillion won. The factory’s mass production is expected to commence in the second half of 2025.

Kia plans to manufacture 150,000 units in the first year, with the potential to expand the production line “in line with future market conditions.” The company previously announced that its first PBV would be based on a new “eS” platform dedicated to purpose-built EVs. Kia’s first PBV is designed for delivery, ride-hailing, and B2B. Following that, it will introduce a larger version for fresh food delivery, logistics, shuttles, mobile offices, and more.

Kia’s PBV lineup and business strategy aim to provide eco-friendly and sustainable mobility solutions worldwide, reflecting the company’s commitment to a greener future. The automaker’s futuristic approach to sustainable mobility solutions has set it apart from its competitors, and the company is well-positioned to lead the transformation towards a more sustainable future.
